Donations, Membership, and Becoming a Patron

How can I support this work?

If you love what we do, there are many ways you can contribute!

Supporters contribute to our work through one-time or recurring donations of any amount, or through donating goods or professional services. We are so grateful for every contribution!

Financial contributions (one-time, monthly, or annual) can support a class or workshop, class fees for those who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford classes, research in the villages or archives, administrative and systems support, or a concert or tour.  Donations can go toward a specific project -- such as improving the resources page on this website, Vadalma's next CD, a singing workshop for a specific community, or research on a specific topic -- or they can go toward ongoing overhead expenses and infrastructure.  We currently accept donations via bank transfer, Wise, Zelle, PayPal, Revolut, Venmo, check, or cash, preferably in US dollars or Hungarian forint.  Please write a note with your payment indicating donation and what you would like it to support.

Donated services and volunteering can include website design, systems development, promotion and social media, bookkeeping, tax assistance, booking, grant-writing, fundraising, hosting a concert or workshop, administrative assistance, Hungarian-English translation (as well as to other languages), photography, event staffing, childcare services, and more. Contact us with any ideas!

Donated goods might include airline miles or tickets to facilitate international workshops, providing a venue for a concert or workshop, or equipment such as a computer, external HD, recording device, video camera, office supplies, musical instruments, traditional Hungarian clothing or other items, and more.  Food and beverage items can also be donated to certain events, depending on the venue, whether for consumption or sale.

Members pay an annual fee and in exchange can attend all classes we offer throughout the year that are open to the public (weekly singing classes, additional lectures and workshops, etc), can receive the class materials for any classes they can't attend personally, and receive two private lessons per year as part of the membership benefits. Annual membership is 150k HUF for residents of Hungary (12,500 huf/mo.) or sliding scale $750-1500 USD for international participants, and is also open to non-class participants who want to be a part of the Népdalkör family and contribute to our annual budget and financial stability in this way.

Patrons are deeply invested in supporting our work, and can be anonymous or acknowledged, can sponsor a specific project and consult on new project ideas, and like members can attend all classes and receive class materials. Please contact us for further details and additional benefits!

Legacy Giving is another way to make a difference and ensure our work continues into the future. Talk with your estate planner about how you can make a difference by making us as a beneficiary in your will, living trust, or retirement plan.

Please contact us to share your ideas, whether skills or goods that you could contribute.  Let us know what initiatives you would like to support if they are not listed here.

On the donation form you may indicate your donation designation:

- Area of greatest need

- Class fees for participants who can’t afford classes

- Village or archival research

- Travel costs for giving international workshops/lectures

- Please indicate any other designation of your choosing!
